Purpose: Shively Area Ministries (SAM) consists of "the Shively area churches for the purpose of ministering to the unmet needs of the community through the Spirit of Christ.

" Mary Queen of Peace parishioners take part in SAM by helping in the food pantry and clothes closet, raising pledges and taking part in the Bowl-A-Thon fund raiser, providing workers for the annual chili/basket auction supper, providing drivers for "Meals On Wheels" for senior shut-ins.

Annually, Mary Queen of Peace sponsors a "Christmas Giving Tree" for SAM that provides clothing and toys for over 200 needy children. There are many other ways the parishioners support SAM and their work for the disadvantaged of the Shively community.
